Motorola University : Creating Mindware for the 21st Century,
Corporate University Xchange 1996, Vol 2 No.3

Training that is not retained will not produce change. Our approach is the key to our success in helping teams bring lasting results. Unlike traditional training methods, our format capitalizes on the theories and methods of experiential education. We integrate these methods into our programs to dramatically increase the participants' understanding and retention of the lessons.

What is a ropes course?

Basically, it is an opportunity for you to participate fully and on your own terms. Success is measured by the participant. It is a living lab where individuals can become leaders and explore what works and what doesn't.

It allows groups to explore innovations without distractions. It is a set of challenges where you may test yourself.

Our ropes courses are state-of-the-art and geared toward group goals.

Low Ropes Challenge Course

Our Low Course programs offer groups the opportunity to test their leadership, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.

Each group works through a system of challenges to ultimately move closer toward the team goals. These goals are then processed at the end of each activity to provide a system of communication in which the group can grow to full potential.

Though the Low Course doesn't quite share the thrill of the other courses, it is a knock-out punch for any group looking to build their group as a whole. It provides a close knit environment that requires cooperation, communication, and a positive attitude.

Our Low Courses include the following elements:

North Course

Wall

Mountain Tops

Space Web

2-Way Whale Watch

Nitro Crossing

All Aboard

TP Shuffle

Traffic Jam

South Course

Fall From Height

Wall

Spider's Web

Mountain Tops

Low Woozy

High Ropes Challenge Course

Our high ropes course is an extensive network of several different elements including our Double-Decker, Tree Course, Pamper Pole, and Giant Swing. Each element provides a different feel to each individual group and provides us a tool to target the goals that your group wishes to accomplish. Together, they form a foolproof system of tools to thrill the greatest seeker and yet still bring everyone into the activity as a team, even if they are not as daring.

As a participant, you choose the level of adventure you wish to experience as you go through each individual element. For example, on our double decker course, if you are someone who is afraid of heights, you are more than welcome to participate from the ground, from the first platform, or push yourself to the upper level or even zip line. Each course is progressive in a way that you can choose to grow in overcoming your sense of fear at your own speed as well as simultaneously working with your group to accomplish other set goals.

Double-Decker High Ropes Course

The Double-Decker is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a thrill with a large group. It allows a large amount of people to be traversing the course at any given time and for those on the ground to participate as they wait.

Typically, the course is done with a partner who checks and double checks your belay system as you walk on cables among the tops of trees. The course is designed to allow the climber to not need their hands while traversing an element. However, the belay lines allow the less daring climber to hold on as tightly as they wish.

Finally, the climbers have the choice of ending their adventure with a great ride! Our course features a double zipline that spans about 100 yards across our game field. Together, you and your partner can seemingly fly side-by-side for a great finish!

Portable Games Program

We can bring the adventure to you.

Many of our stationary elements are now portable.

This innovative design can be used just about anywhere. The Adventure Center has an extensive supply of props and low course equipment that we can bring to your site.

We have worked in hotels, business offices, school cafeterias, football fields, and parks.

More importantly, we are at your service. Many of our mennsiolu items can be customized on your site to meet your group needs.

Much like our low course, our portable program is designed to bring out key team qualities in your group using a system of games and challenges. Our portable program targets communication, leadership, participation, and cooperation as well as fun and any other goal your group may have in mind.

Our portable program is a GREAT winter program because it can be indoors as well as outdoors and we come to you.

Which program is right for me?

We do not have a “cookie-cutter/one-size-fits-all” program but rather we design our programs to fit your group after discussing your wants and needs. Based on your group ideals and reasons for coming together we can assess which course would be the best tool to accomplish your goals.  Many groups come to us with specific and prescriptive goals for their team while others may come to us for fun and adventure as their main purpose.  No matter what your reasons for visiting may be, we have the courses to accommodate your program.
